David Touve

University of Virginia
Director, iLab
Charlottesville, VA
David oversees and supports the people, programs, and resources of the i.Lab, while working to develop new initiatives, connections, and opportunities. On those rare occasions when he has the coordination to both think and type at the same time, his work has been published and presented in academic, professional, and policy venues, and cited by a variety of media (e.g., Financial Times, BBC, Congressional Quarterly, Billboard, WIRED). Previously, David held faculty roles at UVA and Washington & Lee University, developing and supporting new entrepreneurship courses and programs (e.g., the Entrepreneurship Minor at UVA, the Startup Class). Prior to University life, David held founding, executive, or advisory roles in a series of both bootstrapped and venture-backed startups, leading to experience across the lifecycle of new ventures—from idea to exit, and even failure. He earned a Ph.D. in Management from Vanderbilt University, an MBA from AGSM, and a B.A. in Economics from Northwestern University.
