Andrew Mondschein, PhD AICP, is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Urban and Environmental Planning at the University of Virginia School of Architecture. He teaches and studies transportation systems and travel behavior, seeking to foster equitable, sustainable accessibility in cities and regions. Prof. Mondschein’s research emphasizes the human experience of travel as a key part of transportation’s social impact. As automation and information technologies transform mobility, he focuses on approaches to increasing individual and community-level control over mobility choices and impacts on streets. Recent projects include developing city-level policies for connected, automated vehicles, understanding the effects of autonomous vehicles on walking and biking, community-engaged urban sensing, and examining the interactions between mobility, environment, and wellbeing in Delhi, India.
