Partisanship in recent years has reached its most extreme levels on record. Numerous polarizing forces, worsened by fear-based campaign fundraising and media echo chambers, have served as a barrier to what we elected our leaders to do: govern. That makes our society terribly vulnerable at  a moment when we face historic challenges to our institutions and economy. So what can we do to combat extreme partisanship and restore a governing system that works? Steven Olikara, founder of the Millennial Action Project, suggests that the path forward lies in a post-partisan agenda championed by a new generation of political leaders.
